Kids grow, but what about their book selections?

I went to B & N last night. I bought an American Girl Doll feelings journal for my daughter and a middle-grade novel called Justin Case. It looks hilarious.

I was struck by the selection. Is it just my optimism, or has B & N added many more shelves for YA and middle grade? If they have, congrats to them. The younger (but not picture book) audience has been relegated to small spaces for too long.

Anyone else notice this?
